Vivi’s Year in Review – 2007

December 31st, 2007

Well 2007 is drawing to a close and I couldnt’ be more excited about 2008. I feel like great things are going to happen for me and some very close friends.

Here are some of the great things that happened to me in 2007…

My first NOCTURNE came out in March. BLOOD SECRETS had great sales and awesome reviews.

The first ALLURING TALES anthology came out in February. It also had great sales and awesome reviews. Look for II in the fall of 2008.

I went to my first RT convention and had an amazing time. The best thing about it was meeting my soul sister Kimberly Kaye Terry. Since that week, Kim and I talk on the phone almost every day. And I can’t wait to see her at RT in 2008 in Pittsburgh.

I had an epiphany about my writing and the path I want my career to take. It was a tough decision but I made it and now I feel free to pursue new goals in 2008.

VIVI’S PICKS FOR BEST OF 2007

BEST FUTURISTIC ROMANCE

I loved this book by Eve Kenin (Silver). It was action-packed and original. I’d love to see more of these types of books coming out in 2008 and beyond.

BEST URBAN FANTASY

By newcomer Jeaniene Frost this book rocks. It goes above and beyond a lot of the books claiming to be urban fantasy. I loved it. And I know I’ve found a new author for my auto-buy list.

BEST SHOW ON TV

Battlestar Galactica is and will remain the best show EVER to be produced for TV. The writing, the acting, the visuals are all extraordinary. I will be devastated when the last season is over.

BEST NEW SHOW ON TV

MOONLIGHT is a must watch for me. I love the storyline and the lead actor Alex O’Loughlin is to kill for. I think he’s one of the sexiest men I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching.

BEST MOVIE OF 2007

I loved everything about this film, especially Will Smith. He was captivating in this movie. And his dog…whose real name is Abbie, is amazing. I cried my eyes out watching this film, but it was worth every tear.

BEST SEQUEL

The Bourne Ultimatum. I loved every single movie in this trilogy. Matt Damon rocks.

BEST FAMILY MOVIE

Enchanted. Saw this with my dd and we both laughed like crazy.

VIVI’S GOALS FOR 2008

1. Land my dream agent – if it takes me all year, I am determined to do this. I believe the right agent can make or break your career

2. Write something entirely new and different – well if this turns out, this will be the book that lands my dream agent

3. Write great Nocturne books – I finished number four, and am hoping to be able to write 5 and 6 in 2008

4. Get in shape – if I could figure out how to write on the treadmill

What are your goals for 2008???

A mighty shape-shifter with the ability to change into wolf form, Kol made accessing the powerful gateway nearly impossible–unless you were a witch of Kelly Shane’s talents. She had a score to settle and would do anything to close the portal that led to her unearthly prison. Though an alliance with her compromised Kol’s purpose, something about the little witch overwhelmed his fierce, battle-worn soul. But when he learned Kelly’s life might be in jeopardy, could Kol put aside the one thing he thought he valued most–the portal–to journey to the other side and rescue her?

Gena is one of my favorite authors like EVAH. I love her books and after meeting her I love them all the more because she’s just so sweet and saucy.

Mishka Le’Ace was created to be an undercover operative . . . literally. Her beautiful body has been mechanically augmented to give her superhuman strength — strength she’s going to need. Her latest mission sends her to rescue Alien Investigation and Removal agent Jaxon Tremain from torture and death. With him, she discovers a passion unlike any other. A passion she was forbidden to know. . .

From the moment they meet in a darkened cell, Jaxon craves her touch. But the machine half of Le’Ace forces her to do things she doesn’t always want to do. Even betray him . . . and ultimately destroy him. Now Jaxon must battle the man controlling Le’Ace and even Le’Ace herself to at last claim the woman he’s come to love.

REVIEWS:

In versatile Showalter’s new futuristic novel, the world teeters on the edge of disaster unless a tough band of human and alien allies can stop it. Danger spiced with sizzling sensuality are definitely hallmarks of Showalter’s style. Kicking butt and taking names is what these protagonists do best which cranks up the action quotient for this intense new book! – Romantic Times

One of the premiere authors of paranormal romance.” New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole

SAVOR ME SLOWLY is the third and strongest installment in Gena Showalter’s Alien Huntress series. As riveting as the previous two books were this one is better. Fresh Fiction

The characters in this book are flawlessly drawn. . . Science fiction at its best! So if you’ve never picked up a story by this talented author, now is the time to start. Two Lips Reviews — 5 lips, their highest rating!

I read somewhere that the writer’s of Pirates: At World’s End would only get roughly about $6700.00 in residual income if the DVD made over 51 million like Dead Man’s Chest did.

That is criminal.

I’ve been busy writing about this man. Kellen Falcon. Remember him from the OCU? Well, he’s getting his own book, and it’s goooooooood, if I do say so myself.

I finished, the book is in, and now I can relax for the holidays.

I’m mega behind on all sorts of things, particularily mailing out prizes from past contests. If I owe you something, please be patient, I’ll try and get everything out this week, so you can have it for Christmas!!

I also need to pick a winner from Sasha’s Birthday Bash….the winner is…

Amy S!

Congrats Amy. I’ll let Sasha know you won. She’ll be sending you your prize.
